"Feldpost" takes you to German-occupied Latvian Kurland in 1944. There, the soldiers Anton Lang and Werner Schmidt accompany you from the beginning of the first Kurland battle in October, through the time in the Kurland pocket, to the capitulation and dramatic escape in May 1945. The only connection to the outside, to the world beyond the Kessel, to the events on the western front and to home is the field post. This drama succeeds in conveying a piece of everyday wartime life. A story of camaraderie and cohesion in a desperate situation is authentically told on a small scale, without losing sight of the larger context.
