After 165 missions with the Iron Cross I class and the German Cross in gold, he is badly wounded in a Russian fighter attack and has to leave his squadron. After his recovery, now promoted to lieutenant, his further path leads him to the parachute corps Hermann Göring. In the second volume The end contrary to this autobiography of Karl Knoblauch, which is based on his war diaries, the fate of the lieutenant is described during the defensive fighting for East Prussia and the final battle for the Reich.
