Scharfschützen in der Waffen-SS - Buch
The sniper does his job invisibly and silently - taking out the enemy with an aimed shot. A very difficult task, the greatest nerve tension in action with it, but also the knowledge that the sniper himself pays for his work with his life and becomes the victim of an enemy sniper. This special type of weapon also found its place in the Waffen-SS units that were trained with revolutionary methods at the time. The effect that a sniper could have on the enemy was recognized very early on. During the victorious campaigns of the German Wehrmacht, the German units had painful experiences with the enemy's snipers and used this knowledge to find a way to train an effective German sniper weapon. This book fills a gap in military history research and deals with a subject that has remained unnoticed for many years. Some former snipers of the Waffen SS were able to contribute their knowledge to this documentation. In addition to the statements of these former soldiers, extensive documents were found in the former central archive of the Waf-fen-SS in Prague and in the archives of the Federal Republic of Germany. This made it possible to provide a detailed description of the training, armament, successes and missions of the snipers of the Waffen SS. In addition, reports are given on the snipers' awards and telescopic rifles, so that this documentation becomes a valuable reference work for the interested reader. 504 pages, many illustrations, bound, large format.
