Die Jäger-Asse des Reichsmarschalls - Die erfolgreichsten deutschen Jagdpiloten des 2. Weltkriegs
They were the silent heroes of the war in the air and fought in countless missions from the first day of war until May 8, 1945 an often unequal fight against a far superior opponent. They were deployed on all fronts of the war and in the Reich Defense. They were themselves hauled down, had to parachute or crash out, often returned to their units under adventurous circumstances, and got back into their machines. From Horst Ademeit to Josef Zwernemann, each of these 104 fighters has won at least 100 aerial victories. Leaning on a lonely point, Lieutenant Erich Hartmann was the ace of the aces with his fabulous 352 victories. Followed by those comrades of all ranks, which followed him like Major Gerhard Barkhorn with 301 air victories, Günther Rall with 275 air victories, Otto Kittel with 267 air victories, Walter Nowotny with 258 aerial victories and Wilhelm Batz with 237 victories. Their military history, the history of their victories and defeats are presented in this work. This standard work is supplemented by about 300 partially unknown photos showing the men with their comrades and machines. Many of these hunter aces have paid their wages for their homeland with their lives.
