Über Moskau ins Kurland: Ritterkreuzträger Georg Bleher erzählt - Buch
Georg Bleher is born in 1919. In this book he remembers the most formative period of his life. In the summer of 1940 Bleher was drafted into the German Wehrmacht. After his basic education and his time as an occupation force in Belgium, he was at war with Russia from 1941 to 1945 for four years. Bleher experienced as a group leader the German advance in 1941, the battle for the Soviet capital and the following defensive battles in the middle section of the eastern front. He soon proved himself as an experienced spy and shock troop leader and was appointed as Sergeant to Kompanietruppführer. After his commanding officer training Bleher returned in the summer of 1944 as a lieutenant to the 205th Infantry Division back to the northern section of the Eastern Front. As battalion adjutant he experienced the collapse in the east and proved himself several times in the huge material battles in Kurlandkessel. For his personal commitment Georg Bleher was awarded the German Cross in Gold and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The end of the war he experienced in a military hospital in southern Germany. This was followed by two bitter years in French captivity.
