Die Gottbegnadeten - Hitlers Liste unersetzbarer Künstler - Gebundenes Buch
The Third Reich's Chamber of Culture had 140,000 members, but just over 1,000 of them held Adolf Hitler and his Minister of Propaganda Dr. Joseph Goebbels for irreplaceable. Only 375 artists perceived them as "god-gifted" in the narrower sense. They were musicians, conductors, singers, writers, actors, screenwriters, directors, architects, sculptors and painters. In order to protect this elite of German artists, they were released from the war effort. In 1943, the "God-gifted list", on which this book is based, was created from various lists of artist names compiled since 1939. All artists are introduced here by name, most of them with pictures and biography. These include unforgettable names such as Heinrich George, Gustaf Gründgens, Paula Wessely, Gerhart Hauptmann, Agnes Miegel, Arno Breker, Georg Kolbe, Hermann Giesler, Claus Bergen, Arthur Kampf, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Herbert von Karajan, Elly Ney and more than 1,000 others. Personalities who should never be forgotten.
