Born in Upper Silesia in 1914, Adolf Zuber presents his memories of youth, service in the Waffen-SS and captivity. After a voluntary service year Zuber came in 1936 as a volunteer to the Leibstandarte SS "Adolf Hitler" (LAH), with whom he experienced the use in Austria in 1938 and the occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939. After participating in the Polish and the western field Zuber 1941 squad leader, so spear of the 5th Battery of the SS Artillery Regiment in the Division "Reich". The Russian campaign led to Zuber's association of the Guderian tank group, which advanced along the Minsk-Smolensk-Moscow road to the Soviet capital. It was followed by the defense of the Donets Basin, the return of Kharkov and in the summer of 1943 the battle for the Kursk front bow. Following the march to France, Zuber fought with the "Das Reich" division in 1944 against Allied invaders in Normandy. On 8 May 1945 Zuber came in US captivity and was handed over to the Russians. After three long years of captivity Zuber returned in 1948 completely emaciated back home. 160 p., Many b / w. Fig., Born. in large format. German text
