The war history of the 3rd SS Panzer Division "Totenkopf" begins with its installation in the autumn of 1939. The first test took place in the Western Campaign, where the association gained its first experience in the battles for Holland on the outskirts of the Dunkirk basin. In the summer of 1941, the Association came to Army Group North and pushed through Lithuania to northern Russia. Locked up at Demyansk in the winter of 1941-42, the division withstand great losses until the relief. It was followed by the reorganization in France, from where the troops were transferred in January 1943 in the southern section of the Eastern Front, where they participated in the March reconquest of Kharkov in March. Other stations were the attack on the Kursk arc in the summer of 1943, fighting on the Mius and Dnieper in the fall, 1944, the defensive battle east of Warsaw and Modlin, 1945 participation in the last German attack on Lake Balaton.
